줄거리

임원식 감독의 스펙터클 사극으로 명성황후 역의 최은희가 열연했다. 고종(남궁원)을 섭정하던 대원군(김승호)이 궁녀 이씨의 소생인 완화궁을 세자로 책봉하려 들자 민비는 이에 반발하여 민승호 일파와 손을 잡고 대원군을 물러나게 만든다. 그 후 조정은 민씨 일파의 손에 의해 움직이고 소위 개방주의를 표방하고 수호조약을 체결하기에 이른다.

When Prince Daewon rules as regent for King Gojong, he tries to install Wanhwagung the son of a court lady Lee as the Crown Prince, Queen Min, in protest to this attempt, makes Prince Daewon withdraw from ruling as regent with the help of the Min Seung-ho Party. Later, the court controlled by the Min family announces the so-called Openness Policy and comes to make a treaty of amity.
