줄거리

종합병원 간호사 정아는 내과과장 장박사의 죽음에 인생무상을 느껴 속세를 떠나 불문에 입적할 결심으로 전국의 사찰을 떠돌다가 청봉 스님을 만난다. 청봉은 정아의 마음을 돌리려하나 정아의 결심은 더욱 굳어진다.

Jung-ah is a nurse at a general hospital. With the death of Doctor Jang, Head of Internal Department, Jung-ah is troubled by the frailty of life. She decides to leave behind the secular life and visits Buddhist temples around the country. Then Jung-ah meets the Buddhist monk Chung-bong. Chung-bong tries to dissuade Jung-ah but Jung-ah grows more resolute in her decision. Chung-bong is moved. He preaches how difficult it is to get close to the body of the Goddess of Mercy and talks about the hardships of the great Buddhist priest Hi-jung of Shilla. Jung-ah is even more touched and decides to become a Buddhist nun and participates in a ceremony for achieving Nirvana. This ceremony is the biggest one in Buddhism. As the ashes are raised, Jung-ah is finally reborn as a pure Buddhist nun. In order to achieve the state of meeting the Goddess of Mercy, she leaves in search of a place to pray.
