줄거리

짐수레를 끄는 홀아비 마부인 춘삼(김승호)은 고등고시를 공부하는 큰 아들 수업(신영균)과, 시집은 갔지만 쫓겨 오기 일쑤인 벙어리 큰 딸(조미령), 싸움만 일삼는 작은 아들, 가난한 집안형편에 불만을 품고 신분상승을 꿈꾸는 작은 딸 옥희(엄앵란) 등 네 자녀와 함께 살고 있다. 마주(주선태)의 집안 일을 도우며 식모살이를 하고 있는 수원댁(황정순)은 가난한 마부인 춘삼을 물심양면으로 도와주고, 두 사람 간에는 애틋한 감정이 오간다.

A coachman Chun-sam (starring Seung-Ho Kim) is a father of four children; the eldest son, Soo-up (Shin Young-kyun) who is preparing for the bar exam; a deaf daughter (starring Cho Mi-ryung) who married but gets the hoof all the time; a younger son who always fights with people; a little daughter, Ok-hee (starring Uhm Aeng-ran) who dreams of improving her social position against her poor family. Madame Suwon (starring Hwang Jeong-Sun) works at the owner of horses (starring Joo Seon-tae) as a housemaid and helps the poor coachman, Chun-sam with her warm affection. They start to exchange their loving emotions.
