줄거리

시골 의사 로버트 코흐(에밀 야닝스)는 자신의 관할 구역에서 유행하는 결핵을 퇴치하기 위해 필사적이다. 결핵은 아이들에게 쉽게 전염되면서 멈출 기미를 보이지 않고, 부모들은 무력하게 자기 아이가 죽어가는 모습을 바라봐야 하는 상황이다. 나치의 노선에 따라 ‘아리아인의 위대함’을 보여 주려한 이 영화는 실존인물 로버트 코흐의 삶에서 중요한 역할을 한 유대인들을 등장시키지 않았다.

A doctor Robert Koch (Emil Jannings) living in a rural area desperately struggles to eliminate T.B. in his district at hard edge. T.B. is so contagious to children that he cannot stop, and parents are subject to see them dying helplessly. This film tries to present ‘magnificence of the Aryan’ according to the Nazi line, so did now show the Jewish that played an important role for the real person, Robert Koch.
